We will be self-catering, so volunteer members will be bringing the food – which according to Bamford’s policy, is vegetarian. We look forward to some very tasty meals.
The kitchen is large and well-equipped, and will be shared with the members of Bamford’s community, so it will give us the opportunity to make new friends.
Although the weather should be quite reasonable in September, and this probably won’t apply to us, the bedroom radiators are on for a couple hours in the morning and evening during colder periods. Extra heaters can be supplied if needed. Spare blankets and duvets are available in the rooms, and hot water bottles are in the kitchen.
Bamford supplies all bedding and towels.
Showers, toilets and bathrooms are at various points around the buildings. All are shared. One of the downstairs facilities is spacious and disabled-accessible.
There is a large drying room in the cellar, kept warm by the gas boilers.
Bring your ‘wellies’ and extra shoes, as there are some lovely walking paths, if you’re interested.
Wi-Fi is available throughout the buildings. We may use the house phone, but are asked to pay for any phone calls abroad or to mobiles. Contributions to the general Wi-Fi and telephone bill are voluntary and welcome.
The Quaker Community asks that guests be quiet in the areas which are used for their worship time.
We hope that our members near Derbyshire find this site easily accessible, and will join us.
